Why another version of "Edith and the Kingpin"? (And not even in the correct key.)
Colorful standard-tuning chords that (kind of) sound like "Joni" chords:
- For example, the opening F#m7add11 includes 5 different intervals (1, b3, 4, 5 and b7, all from F#-Minor Pentatonic scale).
Easy to play/strum:
- All shown chords are non-inverted (i.e., bass note = root note).
- No need to skip/mute strings, no rootless chords (i.e., no jazz-style chord shapes).
Several "Joni" tunings spell out the same chord type (m7add11). For example:
- E75325 = EBEGAD = Em7add11
- A77354 = AEBDGB = Em7add11/A
- A73432 = AEGBDE = Em7add11/A
Standard tuning:
- E55545 = EADGBE = Em7add11
The above "Joni" tunings include the same, albeit re-ordered, pitch classes as the standard tuning (E, A, D, G and B);
i.e., those tunings can be viewed as different voicings of the same chord.
