At 17, I went with a youg woman I was infatuated with Mary to see Crosby, Stills, and Nash and their opening act Joni Mitchell at the Grek Theater They also brought out Neil Young. Joni Mitchell was amazing. I had always liked her music and she had just written the song Woodstock. I love her music and Neil Young's music still. I consider Blue to be one of the greatest albums of all time. I love her earlier stuff too and pretty much everything she wrote and sang through 1975. I am not familiar with her later stuff.

I saw Joni when she only had her first album out and she's opening for CSNY at the Greek. And she performed only playing acoustic guitar or piano , all alone on the stage. And when she sang her songs, you could hear a pin drop. She held this audience captive through her whole performance. Powerful. One of my favorite shows ever. And I got to see CSNY too !!!

During the summer of '68, I was living on the beach in Laguna Beach, CA. A houseful of 'hippies that befriended me played Buffalo Springfield music over and over. Hooked! Fast forward to August '69. These same guys brought in the brand new CSN album, OMG! And just a few days later, when I discovered they were gonna be at the Greek, I borrowed their VW van, drove up to Hollywood, and bought a couple of tickets, not ever knowing Joni was the opening act. The two things I remember most about Joni's set was Joni comparing her guitar tuning to colors, and how all her notes came out of her head in colors. Secondly, she performed "Woodstock" for the first time...acoustically in her set, then full blown rock-n-roll with the boys at the end of their set; I was forever in love..still am! The last thing I'll never, ever forget are Grahm Nashes' words: "We'd like to introduce our friend, NEIL YOUNG!". Nuff said.

I was there that night. I was 16 and it was my first concert. Joni walked out on stage and my life was forever changed. I loved Crosby, Stills and Nash that night. Neil Young was introduced during Wooden Ships and it was wonderful. However, Joni was the brightest star that night. It was the first time i'd ever really felt electricity in the air from music.

I was there at the Greek Theatre to see Joni - to me,Crosby, Still and Nash were the opening act! I remember thinking, "those guys will never make it!" It was a balmy LA night. The music was magical. I was 19 years old...
