Joni's comments from the StarArt book: "I was playing a concert in New York at the Wallman Rink and before I went on I did some sketches. This girl was sitting in one of those grey enamel folding chairs and the people in her back were the non-paid spectators sitting up on the lawn and the sidewalks watching the show. I was like an addict at this point, I really wanted to draw more than I wanted to go out on stage."
