Joni will be honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2026 JUNO Awards. She will be celebrated with one of Canada’s highest artistic distinctions at the ceremony in Hamilton, Ontario, on March 29. The National Arts Centre will present the accolade in recognition of her unparalleled influence on music and culture across generations. More information here

Today, SOCAN launches Music Creator Day to celebrate Canadian music, and the talented songwriters, composers and music publishers who make it possible. This year marks SOCAN's 100th Anniversary of championing Canadian music creators - empowering them to tell our stories, enrich our culture, and earn a living from their craft. Acknowledged by the Honourable Senator René Cormier on Nov. 4, 2025, in the Senate, and Member of Parliament David Myles in the House of Commons on Nov. 6, 2025, from now on, November 7 will be recognized annually as Music Creator Day, coinciding with the birthday of iconic Canadian singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell.

"Thank you for honouring my work in this manner," said Mitchell. "Although I have lived mostly in the States since I was 21, I live part-time in B.C. I have always been proud to be a Canadian, and lately more than ever." More information here

"Joni Mitchell Archives – Volume 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980)" has been nominated in the "Best Historical Album" category. (Patrick Milligan & Joni Mitchell, compilation producers; Bernie Grundman, mastering engineer). The Grammy Award ceremony will be held on February 1. More information here

Joni will receive the cultural impact award for "Both Sides, Now," which the organization says "left an indelible mark on music and culture, inspiring generations with its timeless beauty and profound artistry." The SOCAN Awards will be held on Sept. 24 at Toronto's Rebel concert venue, with winners in a multitude of categories announced during the event. More information here

Cher and Joni were among the stars who joined Cyndi Lauper Saturday night at the Hollywood Bowl for the final concert of her farewell tour.
