Joni Mitchell joined Brandi Carlile on stage at the Hollywood Bowl on Saturday night to commemorate Carlile's final concert of the year.
The 79-year-old singer sang with the "Right On Time" singer at the end of the show for performances of "Shine," "Circle Game" and "Ladies of the Canyon."
Annie Lennox also appeared during the concert, performing "Why," Eurythmics' "Love is a Stranger," and The Lover Speaks' "No More 'I Love You's,'" Variety reports.
Also joining Carlile throughout the concert were Blake Mills, Allison Russell, and Lucius.
While this was Carlile's final solo concert of the year, she will be performing at the 2023 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony Nov. 3. Rage Against the Machine, Kate Bush, Willie Nelson, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott and Chaka Khan will be honored at the event.
Mitchell's rare concert appearance comes after she suffered a brain aneurysm that limited her mobility and voice in 2015. It was her third time performing with Carlile, after making a surprise appearance at the Newport Folk Festival in 2022. This past summer, the "River" singer performed her first publicly announced concert in 20 years at the Gorge in Washington state.
