BALLINA-based limousine driver John Felsch has had his fair share of celebrity clients.

But his favourite was country singer bombshell Dolly Parton.

"She is just my dream girl," he said.

"I also had (Fleetwood Mac singer) Stevie Nicks and that was pretty memorable. I won't tell why."

Another client was 'lovely' singer Joni Mitchell, who Mr Felsch drove when she was performing at the Opera House.

"I had to wait until the show was over and take her to the hotel," he said.

"But she said, 'you can't just sit here for three hours', so she took me into the show."

Mr Felsch isn't the only star-struck limo driver on the North Coast.

Clients of Byron Bay Limousines include Elle and Mimi Macpherson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Pink, Russell Crowe and others who 'cannot be named because of confidentiality agreements'.

"We also had an NRL player who couldn't fly after a knee reconstruction," manager Bill Roberts said.

Another regular client is a 'very wealthy European traveller'.

"We've sent his limo to pick up turkey, champagne and Christmas presents, and went to hotels to find the client's favourite French champagne," Mr Roberts said.

There were also three-day shopping trips at exclusive designer stores and drivers were sent to supermarkets to buy groceries and wine.

For a birthday bash, the limousine collected friends 300km away.

But some of the biggest thrills for Mr Roberts are marriage proposals.

"One excited young man was telling everyone around the lighthouse, 'She said yes! She said yes!'," he said.

Mr Felsch takes students to their formals and makes them feel special.

"If the kids have been good, I'll roll out the red carpet open their doors for them. It always steals the show," he said.

"Limousines are a buzz. The first time I drove one, I was hooked. That was 28 years ago.

"The day that I finish is looming, that's for sure.

"But I wouldn't want my life any different."
