"House" executive producer Katie Jacobs has optioned the rights to the New York Times bestseller "Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon -- And the Journey of a Generation" by Sheila Weller.
Jacobs will produce as a potential directing vehicle.
Nonfiction tome chronicles the lives of King, the product of outer-borough, middle-class New York City; Mitchell, the granddaughter of Canadian farmers; and Simon, a child of the Manhattan intellectual upper crust. Their stories are set against the backdrop of American girls coming of age in the late 1960s.
Despite her pedigree directing for the smallscreen, Jacobs is aiming to make "Girls Like Us" for the bigscreen.
"House" recently wrapped its fourth season with an episode that Jacobs directed.
