Joni's painting Edmonton is a conversation piece for Tom Cruise in Cameron Crowe's current hit movie Vanilla Sky, in a scene where he's showing off his apartment to his latest love interest, played by Penelope Cruz. "This one is by Monet, and this one is by Joni Mitchell, and I did this one," Cruise says, holding up a snowboard he painted. "At least two out of those three were done by geniuses!" quips Cruz in reply. I have a feeling the snowboard lost out on that one.

Although I haven't seen the film yet, I've heard that two paintings are listed in the closing credits. I haven't been told what the other one is, but I'm guessing it might be The Ice Offering, which I noticed in a photo that appears on the movie's promotional website. Although this painting isn't mentioned in the dialog, it's probably there somewhere!
