Rosie O'Donnell said goodbye to her daytime talk show audience today with a farewell program that, unsurprisingly, featured the music of one of Rosie's favorite artists -- Joni Mitchell. As a montage of clips from the show, pictures of children and partner Kelli Carpenter were shown, Joni's "Both Sides Now" served as a perfect musical backdrop. This isn't the only occasion Joni's music has added a moving touch to television lately; many viewers of HBO's hit show Six Feet Under were touched by the atmosphere "Woodstock" added to an episode that aired last month. To quote a comment I received from a reader struck by the 16 year old character Claire's recognition of the song's power: "Beauty is timeless."
