Happy Birthday Joni! Once again this year Joniphile Steve Polifka has designed a birthday card for Joni, from all of us at JoniMitchell.com and the Joni Mitchell Discussion List. Thanks to Steve for all his hard work, and, best wishes to Joni for many more Happy Birthdays.

Listen to selections from Joni's upcoming CD! Joni's new record company Nonesuch has developed a custom player with Buzztone.com that allows you to listen to a different track from her upcoming CD until its release on November 19. In an extensive article introducing us to the new orchestral CD, it's called a "resplendent offering [that] features Joni Mitchell in some of the most resonant and revealing performances of her career." Travelogue is celebrated on the site as proof that "it remains an indisputable fact that there is no more gifted an interpreter of the music of Joni Mitchell than Joni Mitchell." (Please note: This Nonesuch promotion ended on November 20.)

Rolling Stone apparently doesn't agree with this assessment. In a review to be published later this month, the reviewer says that the recording doesn't "provide the kind of romantic sonic brocades associated with great orchestral rock." (Personally, I'm not convinced that "great orchestral rock" was what Joni was aiming for).
