Lauren and The Good Souls came together initially, in tribute to the amazingly talented Joni Mitchell 9 years ago right here at Lovin’ Cup, and have been doing this tribute every year since. This birthday brunch show is unique in that the 1st set will feature an acoustic set from members of the JMDL (Joni Mitchell Discussion List). This group has been gathering since the mid 90’s and have put on Jonifest’s all over the world. This year, we will host the JMDL here in Rochester, and will feature members from across the United States and Canada! The Good Souls will play the 2nd set as a full band. If you know Mitchell’s music, you know the complexity, beauty, depth and evolution of her songwriting. From the intimate acoustic moments, horn section swells, tight harmonies and orchestral arrangements, this 10 piece band can cover it all. The band’s love and admiration for Joni’s music, and for each other, will captivate and engage the audience, making this show truly something special. To better represent the multitude of Joni’s creative prowess, Jill Anne Collins will be creating live on canvas while the band performs Joni’s hits and deep cuts.
