I saw Joni at Club 47 when I was a Harvard undergraduate. I vividly recall her telling the crowd that she had signed a record contract (with Warner Brothers) for "my very first album" that very day. The playlist for that concert, of course, included all of the most famous tracks from that first album. I had heard a couple of her tunes by other artists-- and I remember that cold night as a real thrill, knowing that I was seeing an extraordinary and special artist for the first time.
