AMERICAN MASTERS Series entitled Joni Mitchell: Woman of Heart and Mind.
Joni remembers two great musical influences:
--Rachmaninoff's Variations On A Theme by Paganini [from the 1953 movie The Story of Three Loves*] and
--Edith Piaf singing Les Trois Cloches et les Compagnons de la Chanso (The Three Bells and the Companions of the Chanso).
*The movie's soundtrack featured the 18th Variation from Sergei Rachmaninoff's Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, performed by the pianist Jakob Gimpel.
