Juno nominations are announced Print-ready version

Nominees for the 1981 Juno Awards show were released yesterday by the Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The awards ceremony takes place Feb.5 in Toronto.

Male Vocalist of the Year: Bruce Cockburn, Burton Cummings, Gordon Lightfoot, Gino Vannelli, Neil Young.

Female Vocalist of the Year: Carroll Baker, Claudia Barry, Susan Jacks, Joni Mitchell, Anne Murray.

Group of the Year: April Wine, Harlequin, Max Webster, Prism, Rush.

Country Male Vocalist: Will Carter, Eddie Eastman, Dallas Harms, Wayne Rostad, Hank Snow.

Country Female Vocalist: Carroll Baker, Marie Bottrell, Iris Larratt, Anne Murray, Laura Vinson.

Country Group of the Year: Carlton Showband, Good Brothers, Family Brown, 6 Cylinder, R. Harlan Smith and Chris Nielsen.

Folks Artist(s) of the Year: Bruce Cockburn, Gordon Lightfoot, Murray McLauchlan, The Rovers, Valdy.

Instrumental Artist: Liona Boyd, Hagood Hardy, Moe Koffman, Claire Lawrence, Frank Mills.

Composer of the Year: Doug Bennett (Too Bad-The Move), Burton Cummings (Fine State of Affairs), Mark Gane (Echo Beach), Lindsay Mitchell, Allen Harlow (Young and Restless), Eddie Schwartz (Hit me With Your Best Shot).

Album of the Year: Greatest Hits (Anne Murray), Permanent Waves (Rush), Uncut (Powder Blues), Woman Live (Burton Cummings), Young and Restless (Prism).

Single of the Year: Could I Have This Dance (Anne Murray), Echo Beach (Martha and the Muffins), Fine State of Affairs (Burton Cummings), Too Bad-The Move (Doug and the Slugs), Wasn't That a Party (The Rovers).

International Album of the Year: Against the Wind (Bob Seger), Glass Houses (Billy Joel), Greatest Hits (Kenny Rogers), The Game (Queen), the Wall (Pink Floyd).

International Single of the Year: Another Brick in the Wall (Pink Floyd), Another One Bites the Dust (Queen), Funkytown (Lipps Inc.), It's Still Rock and Roll to Me (Billy Joel), Rapper's Delight (Sugar Hill Gang).

Nominees for the jazz, classical and album graphics categories are to be announced later this month.
