An arrest was made Friday in the beating of jazz star Jaco Pastorius.
Luc Havan, 25, of Oakland Park was arrested at the Midnight bottle club, 2248 Wilton Dr., Wilton Manors, charged with aggravated battery and jailed in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Havan, the club's manager, told police he pushed Pastorius when the acclaimed bassist, who formerly played with the jazz group Weather Report, swung at him after being denied admission to the club Sept. 11.
Pastorius, 35, who has been living on the streets in Fort Lauderdale, was found bleeding and unconscious. He suffered a fractured skull and facial bones, eye injuries and internal bleeding.
"Basically, he was beaten up," Wilton Manors police Detective David Jones said. "Doctors said, 'Sure, he could have received those injuries in a fall -- if he fell five or six or seven times.' "
Jones said doctors said Pastorius, who was left in a coma, may lose the use of his right eye and left arm.
Last weekend, before going to the Wilton Manors club, Pastorius had jumped on stage at a Santana concert in Sunrise and was thrown out.
