SASKATOON - It took home-grown music legend Joni Mitchell to give Saskatchewan its biggest art opening ever. Then again, Mitchell has often called herself more painter than musician.

"When I paint, I forget I have a body," she says. "Music - you know, I have the sense to eat and sleep. But painting is really obsessive, compulsive."

The exhibition at Saskatoon's Mendel Art Gallery began Friday and is expected to run until Sept. 17. As many as 75,000 people are expected to make their way to the city to see it.
