It's certainly a big week for rock-music fans what with ABC-TV presenting a "Wide World Event" every evening through Friday. These concerts are a repeat of four programs that were broadcast earlier this year on a twice-monthly basis. But, they're still worth the replay and were taped especially for the smaller screen at the California Jam.
The second of the four 90-minute programs will be back tonight on KTXS-TV. Channel 12, 10:30-12 p.m. In case you missed the first one yesterday, it should show up tonight at 11 p.m. on Channel 8 ( WFAA-Dallas) on the cable.
On the radio, KIXY's "On Tour" program continues this Sunday at 9 p.m. with Black Oak Arkansas and Nector. Program is in stereo at 94.7 and runs one hour. It's followed by a fine hour of progressive tunes presented by a local store.
Capitol records has a unique problem ... 400-thousand LP jackets for a new Steve Miller album that may never be. Steve had seven cuts finished and only three to go when he ran into personal problems and had to stop. No one knows if its temporary but it appears the big follow-up to "The Joker" may be a little late in coming. Meantime, Capitol has all those LP covers waiting.
Well, Joni Mitchell has a new live LP on the market- titled "Lilies Of Aisles." She's backed with Tom Scott and the L.A. Express. The best cuts are the live versions of her hit singles; Joni comes across much warmer with a live audience than in a cold studio setting. It's a good LP.
