Joni Mitchell Recalls

Joni Mitchell, 50, accepted a lifetime achievement award Sunday by the Saskatchewan Recording Industry Association, an event that prompted her to reminisce for an audience of family, friends and well-wishers. The singer-songwriter talked about attending Queen Elizabeth school where a seventh-grade teacher inspired her to write poetry. But Mitchell apologized to Bob Hinett, her high school art teacher, for dozing off in his class. The culprit, she said, was her love of rock music, which she would listen to on the radio until the wee hours of the morning.
