JONI MITCHELL looks fairly certain to appear in Norwich during her British tour in June. The Folk Studio hope to be presenting her in concert with Mike Chapman and Ralph McTell on the same bill.
Ralph, whose new trans-Atlantic album, "Spiral Staircase," is getting honourable mentions everywhere, is at the Studio on Sunday.
Mike Chapman seems to be making Norwich his second home. He's at the Mischief on Thursday On Wednesday, as reported elsewhere, he's at the new Yarmouth club.
While talking about the Mischief, a big public climb down by Langley is called for. I maligned the club in my bit about the Stuart Hall concert. They did pull their weight fully.
My criticism of the club was based on a misunderstanding. If Mischief stalwarts want to blame anyone, don't take it out on me, or Glynnis, or Roy Howard, or Dennis or any of the club organisers. The whole toad situation was created by an outside gent who shall remain nameless.
Morgan singing and reciting poetry from the pulpit. That's what happened at Thursday's concert at St. George's Church, Colegate. The evening ran well over the stipulated time because so many singers turned up, which can't, as someone on the electric television says, be bad.
Back to Mike Chapman. His album is. I'm assured coming out soon. (Which also makes one wonder what's happened to the recorded-long-ago album from Roy Harper). And last week I called Mike a superb musician, which one "Here and Now" reader seems to think is a derogatory remark. Maybe my jaded sarcasm gets the better of me sometimes. but, cross my heart, I really meant it.
