Due in stores Tuesday:

- Chris Botti, Italia (Columbia).

- Melissa Etheridge, The Awakening (Island).

- Foo Fighters, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace (Roswell/RCA).

- Herbie Hancock, River: The Joni Letters (Verve). Yet another tribute album to Joni Mitchell. This one features Tina Turner, Norah Jones and Corinne Bailey Rae.

- Queen Latifah, Trav'lin' Light (Verve). Jazz/R&B covers album.

- Raul Malo, Marshmallow World & Other Holiday Favorites (New Door). Singer's first solo Christmas CD.

- Joni Mitchell, Shine (Hear Music). The imperious songwriter famously vowed never to record new music for the evil music machine again, so she's followed Paul McCartney to the Starbucks label. Unlike McCartney's accessible pop, Mitchell's latest faux-jazz project is impenetrable, tuneless and a challenge to finish. This emperor has been prancing sans clothes since about 1976.

- Rascal Flatts, Still Feels Good (Lyric Street).

- Paul Robeson, On My Journey: Paul Robeson's Independent Recordings (Smithsonian Folkways).

- Jill Scott, The Real Thing: Words & Sounds Vol. 3 (Hidden Beach).

- Various Artists, Goin' Home: A Tribute to Fats Domino (Vanguard). Elton John, Paul McCartney, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson and others pay homage to the New Orleans legend.

- Various Artists, Love Is the Song We Sing: San Franciso Nuggets 1965-1970 (Rhino). Four-CD boxed set gathers Jefferson Airplane, Grateful Dead, Moby Grape, Country Joe & the Fish, the Great Society, Steve Miller, Janis Joplin and others.

- Peter White with Rick Braun and Mindi Abair, Peter White Christmas (Artizen).
