VANCOUVER (CP) - They didn't pave paradise but singer Joni Mitchell is upset over a fish farm she says ruined the view from her Sunshine Coast retreat.
The singer also said she is afraid seals, otters and whales will be shot if theye get near the fish pens.
She is one of several property owners in the area who say the four hectares of fish pens built by Norwegian-owned Scantech Resources will have an adverse effect on the environment.
"I thought I purchased a piece of wilderness but it's being corrupted by industry," Mitchell said.
Company official Clarke Hamilton said predators would be killed only as a last resort but electric fences and nets have been erected to keep them away.
"We don't want to be bad neighbors but we will carry on business whether they (property owners) like it or not," he said.
