Noise polluters in a US town are being forced to listen to Barry Manilow.

The unorthodox punishment was apparently dreamed up by Judge Paul Sacco, who believes noise ordinance violators should be given a taste of their own medicine.

The judge claimed that the one-hour sessions have cut down the number of repeat offenders in the town of Fort Lupton, Colorado.

"These people should have to listen to music they don't like," he told KUSA-TV.

Recent offenders were instructed to gather in a room for a session including Barry Manilow's 'I Can't Smile Without You', The Platters's 'Only You', and 'Chelsea Morning' by Joni Mitchell.
