Another day, another party: Linda and Paul McCartney gave a "Leaving Los Angeles" party recently aboard the Queen Mary, docked at Long Beach, to celebrate the completion of their latest album (titled Venus and Mars are Alright Tonight), started in New Orleans in January. Guests included Bob and Sarah Dylan, George Harrison, Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Cher, Helen Reddy, Linda Rondstat, the Jackson Five, David Cassidy, the Faces, Jose Feliciano, the bands called Chicago and America, and from other worlds, Tony Curtis, Karl Maiden, Rudy Vallee, and Tatum O'Neal. The McCartneys flew in a contingent from New Orleans as guests and entertainers. Ernie K-Doe, Allen Toussaint, and Lee Dorsey partied; Professor Longhair and The Meters performed. The theme was New Orleans, and the food offered at buffet tables graced with ice sculptures included gumbo pie, hurricane punch, and pea soup made from Linda's own recipe.
