I need to sell my joni painting

spice   2009-Aug-07 at 12:12:47 I have an original painting of David Crosby by Joni Mitchell from late 60's or early 70's. My uncle passed away recently and left it to me, he has owned it since the late 70's. I hate to sell it but I need to recoup funeral expenses.

I, too, am dealing with the death of a loved one so I know what kind of money you're talking about. Sometimes hard times call for drastic measures. Maybe you can work out a bank loan or something. I wish I could be a good samaritan and pay for it and tell you to hang on to that painting. If I may offer some advice: Don't take the first offer. frenchie25   2009-Aug-23 at 07:40:48 Spice: Hopefully you have not sold your painting yet (unless you really needed the cash). if your painting was indeed created by Joni Mitchell, it is very valuable (as I'm sure you know). You should call (or email Darren Julien of www.juliensauctions.com). I am the manager of the estate of a music legend (who I won't name here) but am selling memorabilia via his upcoming auction in Nov. that will attract high worth investors. Christie's or Sotheby's would also be interested. If you must sell before Nov, at least get an appraisal before selling privately. Don't sell before you know the true value. I am afraid you will cut yourself short. Good luck.

Having been her paintings archivist for the past 3 years, I can't see any resemblance to any style or painting of the period you say it is. I shall have to verify it before it gets included in the archive. I hope I am wrong for your sake. Jamie

spice   2009-Aug-27 at 23:48:55 as far as I know My uncle brought the painting to one of Joni's art exibitions, and her agent took a picture of it and showed it to her. we always thought it was nash but she said it was crosby.
