Remixing Joni..?

matthewflowers   2009-Sep-09 at 15:24:44 Last night I was cooking dinner and listening to "Dog Eat Dog", an album I keep coming back to again and again as it is so painfully relevant to our day and age, and I thought to myself...Gee, I'd love to remix "Good Friends", "Shiny Toys", "Lucky Girl"...well, a lot of songs. Imagine a tribal remix of "The Jungle Line". Sheesh!! Many classic singers have been successfully remixed by a younger generation - Nina Simone's Verve remixes are brilliant. So I feel it's time to do the same with Joni's work while she is still around to benefit from the attention and to enjoy the fruits of her labour as re-interpreted by the artists that she inspired. Does anyone have any ideas about how this could happen? I work in the music industry and am prepared to contact her management/label through the proper channels, and at the same time this should be a fan-driven project that grows out of our shared love for Joni, not a soulless corporate repackaging. GerryMclaughlin   2009-Oct-06 at 05:04:33 I have thought quite often how I'd love to hear some good remixes of Joni. It would be good just to have them around. Feist has had a couple of good ones recently. I think some Joni might blow us all away ! Well it's about time really. I think it's going to happen.....The Wolf that lives in Linsay would be fine for starters but I agree The Jungle Line would be great if treated properly.Bring them on !

sweet.bird   2009-Oct-19 at 10:23:28 matthew, i honestly think that's a great idea... while listening to HOSL, my mind is just soaring with crazy beats to 'the jungle line'... and now that i've heard 'dreamland' too... i think they'd both work super well for crazy remixes. 'sex kills' would be a wicked one. just to touch up on what gerry was writing... feist has worked with gonzales and has been remixed by boyze noize (german dj), and several interpretations have been worked out. it'd be nice to have a joni remix album, and especially having some touches on there by some canadian djs: MSTRKRFT would be INTENSE! even having a rap collab with k-os or adding some covers by artists and even going so far as to mix those as well.
