the new box set!!!!

ericfenby   2009-Jun-30 at 01:44:07 I hope and pray that it will contain the Mingus 'alternative takes' that Joni hinted at in previous interviews. I also hope that this box set, no matter how welcome, doesn't signify the end of her recording career, as Shine contained some beautiful music.

The Hissing of Summer Lawns demos would be nice although they are fairly easily obtainable on bootlegs. There was the "double disc reissues" of Hissing, Court & Hejira which were supposed to be released a couple of years back to the point where they were available to pre-order on some websites, but never saw the light of day. Maybe some material which was to be on these will be included with the box set???

andeemac2006   2009-Jul-19 at 01:26:22 I agree with Vegavision about the "double disc reissues" only I would be more specific, If there is any out-takes of JACO and JONI in the vaults from the Hejira to DJRD and Shadows period this would send me into raptures. There are few artists that reached the perfection that Joni attained over this period when Jaco weaved his magic playing on Hejira and DJRD, he is missed.

We've seen bits of it on the Woman of Heart and Mind DVD but they didn't really clean it up. Would love a bit more Jaco action. I hope it does contain some genuine surprises rather than a re-hash of Hits & Misses. She said she wrote 27 verses to Shine... a 16 minute version of that? I'm looking forward to seeing a playlist!

Speaking of Fairport, does anyone know if there are plans for a DVD release that wonderful Mitchell tribute concert which aired a few years ago? It was hosted by Ashley Judd and featured Richard Thompson, Hillary Clinton and others. I taped it at the time, but would love to see the complete show in high-def.
