Joni Mitchell's Tentatively Titled Taming The Tiger Due In February. Television Specials, Books, And Tribute Album Also On The Way A slew of Joni Mitchell projects are on the way, including her next album, television specials, a tour, three books, and, as previously reported in allstar, a tribute record (allstar, July 21).
The tentative title for her next album is Taming the Tiger, and it's due in February. Meanwhile, the not- yet- titled tribute album, which doesn't even have a tentative street date yet, will feature Sting, Elvis Costello, Sarah McLachlan, Annie Lennox, k.d. lang, Janet Jackson, Etta James, and Chaka Khan. Both albums are due on Reprise.
As for the television specials, one will be a documentary on the legendary and highly influential singer/songwriter. The other special will be a live concert in an intimate setting. The networks for both specials have not been announced yet, but it's a safe bet that at least one of the shows will be a VH1 or MTV special.
Also, Mitchell has entered into a three- book publishing deal with Random House, which will entail a book on her memoirs and stories, a book on her artwork, and a book on her lyrics and poetry. Finally, Mitchell, who has been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters' Hall of Fame, has recently signed a publishing deal with Sony/ATV Music Publishing for worldwide administration of her catalogue and all new material.
